Premieră medicală în România. Copil de 2 ani şi jumătate, salvat prin transplant renal

A 2.5-year-old boy became Romania's youngest renal transplant recipient after receiving a kidney from a 1.5-year-old brain-dead donor. The surgery took place in Iași, involving multiple medical teams. The child had been on dialysis since birth and weighed only 8.5 kg. Another kidney was transplanted to a 6-year-old boy from Moldova. There are currently 62 children on the waiting list for renal transplants in Romania. The procedure presented unique challenges due to the child's small size and anatomical issues, but the medical teams successfully navigated these difficulties. Both children are recovering well after the surgeries.
