The total value of arrears reached 77 billion lei, down from 77.8 billion lei in Q4 2025. The number of companies with outstanding debts increased to 47,012. Most arrears are in construction, trade, and transport sectors. The largest portion of debts is owed to the state budget, totaling 57.2 billion lei in Q1 2026. Bucharest accounts for over 41% of total debts, with 31.8 billion lei. The construction sector has the highest debts, with residential and non-residential buildings accumulating 5.26 billion lei. Other sectors with significant arrears include wholesale trade and the chemical industry.
