Dispare ultimul gheţar din Alpii Allgäu. „Probabil se va topi complet până vara viitoare”
The Schwarzmilzferner glacier in the Allgäu Alps has lost its glacier status due to extreme heat this summer, with significant ice mass loss. Researchers predict it may completely disappear by next summer. Christoph Mayer, a glaciologist, has monitored the glacier for 26 years and noted a worrying trend of accelerated melting since 2016. The glacier's ability to flow has ceased, marking its end. This phenomenon is not isolated, as many smaller glaciers in the Alps are disappearing annually. Mayer anticipates that the Eastern Alps could be ice-free by 2060 to 2070.
