Călin Georgescu is seeking to replace his preventive arrest with a milder measure at the Bucharest Tribunal. He has been in preventive detention since September 29, accused of defrauding a businessman of 1.1 million euros. Despite previous attempts to secure release, all favorable decisions were overturned by the Court of Appeal. The investigation began after businessman Răzvan Leu filed a complaint regarding a failed loan deal involving precious metals. Georgescu allegedly misled Leu into paying a guarantee for a loan that never materialized, leading to significant financial loss for Leu.
