Bursa deschide pe roșu, trasă în jos de acțiunile băncilor, după ce Consiliul Concurenței le-a acuzat că au manipulat ROBOR

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) opened the week in decline, with the main BET index affected by falling bank stocks after the Competition Council accused them of manipulating ROBOR. All BVB indices were down, with significant drops in listed banks following record fines totaling 3.73 billion lei imposed on ten banks. BRD, Banca Transilvania, and other banks announced plans to contest the fines, asserting they acted legally and in compliance with regulations. The investigation, initiated in late 2022, concluded that the banks coordinated their behavior in setting ROBOR, leading to the sanctions. Banks argue the penalties lack foundation and do not reflect their operations.
