Ukraine is urging international sanctions against Russia's Rosatom and the return of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant under Kyiv's control. The plant lost external power again due to a malfunction, marking the 16th time this year. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that Russia endangers European nuclear security and uses nuclear safety as a tool for blackmail. He called for immediate sanctions against Rosatom, involved in the illegal occupation of the plant. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that power was restored to Zaporizhzhia after a disconnection. The plant, occupied by Russian forces since March 2022, continues to require cooling for its nuclear fuel despite not generating electricity.
