Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the House, called for Pete Hegseth's removal from the Pentagon, accusing him of power abuse and initiating a costly war with Iran. Jeffries expressed strong support for impeachment, stating it would gain significant backing. Republican Thomas Massie also plans to reintroduce a resolution for Hegseth's removal, citing national security concerns and rising costs for Americans due to the war. Hegseth, appointed in January 2025, has led several military operations under Trump, including actions against Iran and narcoterrorist groups. The Iran conflict has reportedly cost the U.S. economy $47 billion.
