Romania is resuming the production of low-cost SkyCeptor missiles, which will be integrated into the Patriot air defense system. The production will take place at Electromecanica Ploiesti, with support from the Pentagon and collaboration with Israeli company Rafael. A second memorandum of understanding was signed with Raytheon for the project, which aims to meet the needs of both Romanian forces and 19 foreign clients. The SkyCeptor missile, derived from the Israeli Stunner, is designed to intercept various threats and is significantly cheaper than Patriot missiles, costing around $1 million each compared to $4-5 million for Patriots.
