In the first nine months of 2026, Romania saw the establishment of 3,707 foreign-owned companies, a decrease from 4,471 in the same period of 2025. The total subscribed capital for these new companies reached 15.433 million dollars, up from 12.511 million dollars the previous year. In September 2026 alone, 296 foreign companies were registered, with a subscribed capital of 1.16 million dollars. The majority of new registrations were in wholesale and retail trade, automotive repairs, and professional services. By the end of September 2026, Romania had 266,825 foreign-owned companies with a total subscribed capital of 73.017 billion dollars, predominantly from Italy and the Netherlands.
