Air quality in New Delhi has deteriorated significantly, leading to school closures and a recommendation for remote work. The pollution levels reached alarming figures, prompting authorities to take action just before the Diwali festival, which is known for increasing air pollution due to fireworks. With 20 million residents, New Delhi faces severe air quality issues, especially in winter. The pollution index was recorded at 382, far exceeding the acceptable level of 50. Weather conditions are expected to worsen, further impacting air quality and residents' health.
