November 7 is celebrated as "Hug a Bear Day," honoring the teddy bear. The day is linked to a 1902 hunting incident involving President Theodore Roosevelt, who refused to shoot a captured bear. This inspired a cartoon by Clifford Berryman, leading to the creation of the teddy bear by Morris Michtom. The name "Teddy's Bear" references Roosevelt's nickname. The origins of the celebration remain unclear, but it encourages children to bring their favorite stuffed animals for storytelling sessions.
