The Pediatric Clinic Hospital of Sibiu has received an award for its project on early screening of spinal muscular atrophy. This initiative allows for local evaluation and treatment, reducing the need for travel to Bucharest. Since January 2026, over 2,200 newborn screenings have been conducted. The project utilizes a laboratory established during the pandemic, now serving as a permanent resource for diagnosing this rare disease. The award recognizes the efforts of the hospital's leadership and various medical teams involved in the project, supported by donations from partner associations.
