A Spanish hospital in Barcelona is set to create digital twins of patients to predict disease progression and optimize treatments. This innovative project aims to simulate human body parts using advanced technology, allowing researchers to model disease evolution and treatment effectiveness. The initiative, led by Dr. Manel Escobar, will utilize medical imaging, clinical data, and genomic information to develop digital replicas. Funded by €11.7 million from the European Regional Development Fund, the project will enhance the management of various complex conditions, particularly in cardiology and common ailments like migraines, over the next three years.
