A recent audit by the Court of Accounts revealed significant mismanagement of fines and public funds in the Sirețel municipality. The report highlighted discrepancies involving two local councilors who were misrepresented as having no income, despite receiving allowances. The audit covered the period from 2021 to 2025 and identified 29 irregularities, including issues with fine records and unauthorized transformations of fines into community service. Additionally, over 233,000 lei in fines were improperly converted without local council approval. The report also noted delays in implementing court decisions and the lack of proper documentation. The local administration has committed to addressing these issues by April 2027.
