The mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, announced that the new Isvarna II-Craiova water pipeline will secure the city's drinking water supply for at least 100 years. The project, which took 13 years to complete, faced numerous challenges including technical, bureaucratic, and financial obstacles. The total investment exceeds 500 million euros, making it the largest water supply contract in the EU. The pipeline, stretching 123 kilometers, will provide high-quality spring water from the Gorj mountains. The mayor emphasized the historical commitment of Craiova's leaders to ensure access to potable water for residents and travelers.
