The Sirețel City Hall in Iași County requested the court to convert fines of two local councilors into community service, despite their reported income. A Court of Accounts audit revealed 29 irregularities, including the misrepresentation of the councilors' financial status. The audit covered 2021-2025 and highlighted issues such as unapproved financial deductions and delays in implementing court sentences. The report also noted that some fines were improperly transformed into community service hours, leading to significant financial losses for the local budget. The mayor, Gelu Șpaiuc, claims that auditors did not review all documents and intends to contest the findings.
