A Romanian company has requested a license to import 30,000 tons of corn from Ukraine due to lower prices, despite record local production. The Ministry of Agriculture is reviewing this request, which is the only one for grain imports for 2025 and 2026. The situation arises as Romanian farmers struggle to sell their corn while Ukrainian imports become more appealing. Last year, Romania produced 7.8 million tons of corn, but cultivated areas have decreased compared to previous years. The ministry has previously issued import licenses for other products, including sugar from Ukraine.
