Group 5 at Turceni, the only operational unit at the Oltenia Energy Complex, was shut down again due to a boiler failure. This incident follows similar issues in the past month. The unit, with a licensed capacity of 285 MW, was taken offline at 18:02, with an estimated return to service on November 11. Following this shutdown, total coal-fired power generation dropped to just over 550 MW. The energy system is currently relying on gas plants, wind energy, and imports to meet demand, which peaked at nearly 8,200 MW this evening. Frequent accidents at remaining coal units have raised concerns, and despite plans to close some units, Romania has decided to keep them operational for the upcoming winters.
