Călin Georgescu, former presidential candidate, is seeking a more lenient measure from the Bucharest Tribunal, requesting house arrest or judicial control instead of preventive detention. He has been in preventive custody since September 29, facing charges related to forming a criminal group that defrauded a businessman of over 1.1 million euros. Georgescu has four other criminal cases against him, with two already sent to trial. Following the extension of his preventive arrest, protests by the AUR party are planned in front of the Central Arrest on November 14-15.
