The Romanian Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced plans to ensure payment for all resident doctors' on-call shifts, regardless of their training year. This commitment follows a meeting with young doctors and the president of the Romanian College of Physicians, Cătălina Poiană. Currently, residents in their first three years do not receive payment for on-call duties. The minister aims to implement a progressive payment system for shifts, with an estimated annual budget impact of around half a billion lei. Additionally, there are plans to reform the recognition of studies and the methodology for specialty exams. Rogobete emphasized the importance of supporting the younger generation of doctors.
