Cristian Erbașu, CEO of Construcții Erbașu, warned that tens of thousands of construction workers may lose their jobs due to state debts to construction firms. He highlighted that the industry is facing significant financial pressure, with over 1 billion euros owed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) alone. The situation is exacerbated by a budget deficit exceeding 90 billion lei, following the departure of Ilie Bolojan from the government. Erbașu noted that while some payments have been made, many companies still face critical debt levels, leading to potential layoffs and salary cuts. The lack of predictability in project funding and contract continuation poses a severe risk to the construction sector, with insolvencies already doubling.
