Nuclearelectrica's Unit 1 at Cernavodă has been successfully reconnected to Romania's national energy grid after a period of shutdown due to low Danube water levels. The company’s CEO, Mihai Gioară, expressed gratitude to the team ensuring nuclear safety during this time. Romania has been in an energy alert state since August 1, following the shutdown of the unit on July 28. The Cernavodă plant typically contributes about 20% of the country's electricity. The reconnection comes after extensive checks by the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control, confirming readiness for restart. As of now, Unit 1 is generating 191 MW, with plans to reach its maximum capacity of 700 MW soon.
