Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is a significant celebration in India symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. In 2026, it will be celebrated on November 8. The festival, rooted in various religious traditions, particularly Hinduism, involves lighting lamps, family gatherings, and sharing sweets. Each of the five days of Diwali has its own rituals, including prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity. While primarily a Hindu festival, Diwali is also important for Jains and Sikhs, marking spiritual events in their traditions. The festival is celebrated globally in countries with Indian communities, showcasing its cultural significance beyond religious boundaries.
