France has ordered new Exocet anti-ship missiles and naval cruise missiles (MdCN) as part of its rearmament efforts amid global security concerns. The French Ministry of Defense announced this during the Euronaval defense exhibition near Paris. A contract with MBDA for the MdCN Mk2 cruise missiles is expected to be signed, with plans to increase missile numbers by 85% by 2030. The MdCN missile, operational since 2017, has a range of over 1,000 kilometers and targets high-value strategic infrastructures. Additionally, an imminent framework agreement for Exocet MM40 B3C missiles was announced, which may involve European countries purchasing directly from DGA. France plans to allocate four billion euros for ammunition purchases by 2027, up from 2.4 billion in 2026.
