Andrea Oriente's debut book "Our Youth" explores his 15-month experience in a far-right organization in Italy. The narrative serves as a reflection on indoctrination and the disillusionment faced by many who join such movements. The protagonist, a 20-year-old, details his journey within the neofascist group ScontroSistema, highlighting the strict discipline and the ideological motivations behind joining. The book reveals the allure of belonging and rebellion, while also critiquing the false sense of strength offered by extremist ideologies. Ultimately, the protagonist's departure from the group stems from a realization of loneliness and a rejection of the oppressive structures he once embraced.
