The first reactor of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, which was shut down due to low Danube water levels, is set to be resynchronized to the national energy system on Friday. The restart follows the fulfillment of necessary conditions after inspections by the nuclear regulatory authority. Romania has been in an energy alert since August 1 due to the reactor's shutdown, which has affected energy production from hydroelectric sources as well. The second reactor's restart remains uncertain, depending on sustained increases in Danube water levels. Currently, Romania is importing energy to meet consumption needs, with solar and gas sources providing the largest contributions.
