In December 2026, Romanian employees will enjoy three paid holidays due to winter celebrations. The first holiday is on December 1st, coinciding with Romania's National Day, which falls on a Tuesday, creating an extended weekend. Additionally, Christmas holidays on December 25th and 26th are also recognized as paid days off. For 2027, employees will have a total of 17 legal holidays, with only 9 occurring on weekdays. Employees required to work on holidays are entitled to compensatory time off or double pay. Companies failing to comply face significant fines.
