A proposed stimulus would replace current amounts with a value equal to the parental allowance. Parents returning to work during child-rearing could receive their salary plus a bonus equal to 100% of the allowance. This initiative, supported unanimously by the Senate's budget committee, aims to encourage parents to work before their child turns two, or three for children with disabilities. Currently, parents returning to work before six months receive a 1,500 lei bonus, while later returns yield 650 lei. The average parental allowance is 3,977 lei. Raluca Turcan emphasized the need to support working parents, citing declining birth rates in Romania.
