Prime Minister Luca Niculescu stated that the government does not plan to introduce new taxes while preparing the 2027 budget. He emphasized the need for reducing government spending and implementing public sector reforms. In about two weeks, the government will have a complete overview of Romania's financial situation, following a report requested from the Minister of Finance. Niculescu highlighted the importance of a balanced budget that meets the population's needs after two challenging years marked by rising prices. He also pointed out the necessity of improving tax revenue collection, despite ANAF meeting its collection targets this year. Digitalization of the tax administration is expected to enhance revenue collection by 2027.
