Lionsgate has officially approved an animated film set in the "John Wick" universe, featuring Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the iconic assassin. This prequel will explore events prior to the first film released in 2014. The project is currently in pre-production, with Shannon Tindle directing and a script by Ryan and Kaz Firpo. The story revolves around John Wick's "impossible mission" to free himself from the High Table and build a life with his love, Helen. While the animation studio has not been disclosed, Lionsgate is also working on a fifth live-action film and a video game featuring Reeves.
