A Roman sarcophagus containing the remains of a child aged 1-3 years was discovered in Constanța, revealing burial customs from nearly 2000 years ago. Alongside the remains, archaeologists found two clay toys, jewelry made of gold and bronze, and traces of flowers, indicating a carefully prepared burial. The sarcophagus, dating back to the 2nd-3rd century AD, was well-preserved and included organic materials like hair and fragments of a wooden coffin. This unique find provides valuable insights into ancient Roman funerary practices and the emotional gestures of families during burials. Further interdisciplinary research is planned to understand the significance of the artifacts and the treatment of the child's body.
