The mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc, has officially requested the metro contractor to recover delays and provide a clear timeline for the next phases of construction, particularly for the tunnel boring machines' entry. This statement was made during a press conference on November 5, where he emphasized the need for a realistic execution schedule. Despite the request, the municipality has not yet received a response from the contractor. The project has faced multiple delays, with recent efforts focused on design and geotechnical investigations. The Turkish company Gülermak, leading the construction, stated that additional checks on geotechnical conditions are necessary before proceeding. Boc reiterated the contractor's responsibility to meet deadlines, highlighting the project's funding of 357 million euros, aimed at completing 8.8 kilometers of the metro line by 2029, with full completion expected by 2032.
