The Romanian Ministry of Finance is exploring a mechanism for farmers to purchase diesel without excise taxes directly at the pump, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. Minister Alexandru Nazare emphasized the need for sustainable solutions that align with European legislation. He acknowledged the impact of rising fuel prices on the economy and farmers, noting recent reductions in excise duties. Nazare stressed that any support measures must avoid budgetary imbalances and should be translated into concrete legislative actions. Discussions are ongoing to operationalize this initiative by 2027, as stated by Agriculture Minister Florin Barbu.
