Sergei Lukin, the former head of Tula Ammunition Factory, was arrested in Russia on charges of smuggling. His arrest was ordered by a military court in Moscow, with potential penalties of up to 12 years in prison. Lukin took over the Tula factory in March 2023 and later assumed a similar role at Ulyanovsk Ammunition Factory. Both factories are part of the same industrial group and produce ammunition for various firearms. The Tula factory, established in 1880, is one of Russia's oldest defense enterprises and exports ammunition globally. In February 2024, the EU sanctioned Lukin and the factory for supplying ammunition to the Russian military in the Ukraine conflict.
