The Ministry of Agriculture is negotiating with the Ministry of Finance to allow farmers to purchase diesel without excise tax from 2027. Minister Florin Barbu highlighted the high costs farmers currently face and mentioned that the government will reimburse excise taxes for the second and third quarters. He also explained the VAT refund system for farmers, emphasizing that the state compensates for utility costs and diesel consumption. Additionally, Barbu announced a support package of around 60 million euros to offset fertilizer costs in the vegetable sector, funded by European and state budget resources.
