ANAF has announced the cancellation of certain VAT debts and the possibility for taxpayers to reclaim previously paid amounts. This measure, outlined in Ordinance no. 1.512/2026, applies to taxpayers whose VAT registration was annulled and who have incurred additional payment obligations. The law allows for the cancellation of specific VAT differences and related penalties for periods between January 1, 2019, and August 27, 2026. Taxpayers must submit a request for reimbursement, detailing their identification and the relevant payment decisions. ANAF will verify eligibility and may offset any outstanding tax obligations against the refunded amounts. Cooperative societies are also eligible under specific conditions. The process includes a 45-day period for identifying eligible tax obligations.
