The Ministry of Agriculture is negotiating with the Ministry of Finance to allow farmers to purchase tax-free diesel directly from pumps starting in 2027. Minister Florin Barbu highlighted the high costs farmers currently face and mentioned that the government will reimburse excise duties for the second and third quarters. He also explained the VAT reimbursement system for farmers, emphasizing that the state compensates for utility costs related to diesel and machinery. Additionally, a support package of around 60 million euros is being prepared to help offset fertilizer costs, funded by both European and state budgets.
