The Bucharest Court of Appeal has ordered the preventive arrest of a 35-year-old Cuban citizen, suspected of instigating acts of diversion. He allegedly coordinated and financed a Colombian to spy and destroy strategic objectives in Romania through arson. The arrest is for 30 days, based on evidence from DIICOT prosecutors indicating that the Cuban offered money to the Colombian to document targets for destruction. Although reconnaissance was conducted, the plan was thwarted by police intervention. The Cuban is also under investigation by U.S. authorities and other countries for coordinating sabotage acts.
