In September 2026, tourist arrivals in Romania increased by 4.8% compared to the previous year, with a total of 1.322 million visitors. Domestic tourists accounted for 76.7% of arrivals, while foreign tourists made up 23.3%. Over the first nine months of 2026, total arrivals reached 11.078 million, a 1.2% rise from 2025. The average stay was 2.2 days for Romanian tourists and 2 days for foreigners. The occupancy rate for accommodation facilities was 29.5% for the year-to-date, down 1.3 percentage points from last year. The most visitors came from Germany, Italy, and the USA. In terms of overnight stays, there were 2.809 million in September, marking a 3.6% increase, with Romanian tourists representing 79% of the total.
