Ahold Delhaize has signed a new agreement to purchase renewable energy from two large-scale projects in Romania, enhancing its sustainability efforts. The virtual power purchase agreement (vPPA) will allow the company to acquire about 14% of the energy produced by an onshore wind farm and a solar park, both developed by Rezolv Energy. The wind project, located in Constanța, is expected to generate 780 GWh annually, while the solar park in Arad will produce 1,800 GWh with over 1,200 MW capacity. This initiative aims to cover the company's electricity needs in Europe with renewable sources by 2030, five years ahead of schedule, supporting Romania's energy transition.
