The tax applies to properties valued over 2.5 million lei and cars over 375,000 lei, with a rate of 0.9% on the excess value starting in 2026. ANAF uses municipal valuations for properties and past declarations for vehicles to identify non-compliant taxpayers. After the declaration deadline, ANAF notifies those who haven't declared, allowing them to submit their declarations within 20 days. Failure to comply leads to an estimated tax assessment and potential enforcement actions, including account seizures and property liens.
