DIICOT has launched an operation against the Burtea clan, focusing on Niculae Danciu, known as the manele singer "Segher," and his son Mario Danciu. They are implicated in a human trafficking and sexual exploitation investigation involving 36 searches in Romania and 21 in Germany. The group, led by Niculae Danciu, is accused of recruiting and exploiting young women across Europe. Mario Danciu is also facing charges related to a fatal car accident in 2024, where he allegedly hit two children while driving without a license. The investigation has revealed significant financial gains from these criminal activities, with over 3 million euros involved. Authorities from Romania and Germany are collaborating on this case under a joint investigation team agreement.
