A new proposal by PNL aims to provide parents returning to work early with a monthly incentive equal to the average child-rearing allowance, approximately 4,000 lei. This initiative seeks to address the financial disparity that currently discourages many parents from resuming their professional activities. Currently, parents receive a fixed incentive of either 1,500 lei or 650 lei depending on when they return to work, which is significantly lower than the average allowance. The proposed changes would allow the incentive to be calculated based on the individual child-rearing allowance, thus offering more financial support. The initiative also aims to tackle declining birth rates and support parents in balancing work and family responsibilities. The legislative changes are expected to take effect next year, pending parliamentary approval.
