Six defendants have been indicted in connection with the October 2025 explosion in a Bucharest apartment building that resulted in four fatalities and eight injuries. Prosecutors allege that gas distribution employees and authorized firm representatives failed to address a gas leak despite multiple reports. The accused include the gas distribution operator, two emergency response employees, and two installers from an authorized company. Investigators found that electrical cable defects led to a gas leak, creating an explosive mixture that ignited the following day. The explosion rendered all 54 apartments in the affected building uninhabitable and damaged surrounding properties and vehicles. Civil claims have been filed by 297 individuals and entities, with asset seizures totaling over 68 million euros to secure potential damages. The case has been sent to court for trial.
