The Sibiu County Directorate for Family and Youth (DJFT) lacks operational staff, a proper office, and activities for youth, yet continues to pay executive salaries. This situation is shared with three other counties, totaling over 273,000 lei spent on salaries. Established in 2022, DJFT has not effectively transitioned staff from the former Youth and Sports Directorate. As of mid-2023, it had no legal status or fiscal code. A temporary employee from another county was used to sign payroll documents. An audit revealed significant irregularities, prompting calls for legal action, which were ultimately rejected by the Court of Accounts. The Minister of Labor stated that the decision to refer the case to prosecutors lies with the Court of Accounts, not the ministry.
