Moldovan citizens abroad may need to return home if mobilization orders are issued, according to a new defense ministry project. The proposal outlines obligations for citizens during wartime or siege conditions, including contacting diplomatic missions for guidance. It also imposes restrictions on reservists within the country, requiring permission for extended absences. The project allows for the declaration of a state of siege or war in response to military threats, with potential restrictions on movement and the suspension of elections. The proposal is currently under consultation and could be enacted by January 2027.
