The modernization cost of the Brașov-Sighișoara railway line has increased again, with a new contract signed by CFR and Alstom Transport S.A. for an additional reserve of 100 million lei. This brings the total reserve to approximately 688.6 million lei, while the overall contract value rises to nearly 3.85 billion lei. The project includes significant technical challenges, such as the construction of two tunnels and the modernization of 28.2 km of railway. Once completed, travel time between Brașov and Sighișoara will be reduced to under one and a half hours, with an estimated completion date in February 2028.
