The former homeless shelter on Zizinului Street in Brașov is set to be converted into social housing after over a decade of planning. The project is currently in the bidding phase, with an estimated investment of 7,087,387 lei, excluding VAT, funded by the European Union. The renovation will include energy efficiency upgrades and the creation of one- and two-bedroom apartments. New electrical installations and photovoltaic panels will be added, along with a gas heating system and an air-water heat pump. The project aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce losses. Originally proposed in 2015, the transformation has faced delays, with the new homeless center completed only in 2023.
