A 56-year-old woman from Craiova underwent a rare surgical procedure in Cluj-Napoca to remove a 2 kg tumor from her sacrum after suffering for nearly 30 years. The multidisciplinary medical team successfully excised the tumor and reconstructed the connection between her spine and pelvis, allowing her to walk again without neurological deficits. The surgery involved multiple stages, including an initial operation to address an infection and a subsequent extensive procedure lasting over 12 hours to remove the tumor completely. Advanced technology, including robotic assistance, was utilized to implant a permanent metal structure in place of the removed sacrum, restoring her mobility and quality of life.
