A miniature mask from the early Neolithic, found in 2012 at the Cristian archaeological site, will be showcased at the Casa Altemberger Museum in November 2026. This artifact, linked to the Starcevo-Criș culture, was discovered alongside two skeletons and various ritual objects. Experts suggest the mask was intentionally fragmented as part of a ritual to preserve the memory of the depicted character. The discovery sheds light on the beliefs and practices of ancient communities in the Sibiu region.
